The Abbey Studios School of Photography has grown out of many requests for help and training in photographic skills. The Director, Graham Light, is a qualified member of the British Institute of Professional Photography and has been working as a full time professional photographer since 1977. Over the years he has travelled extensively working on commercial assignments for industry and covering weddings from locations as far apart as Lancashire, Yorkshire and Devon as well as London and many other locations around the country. The studio has been commissioned on numerous occasions to cover Royal Events in the area. Graham also spends time each year on locations abroad building up an extensive library of travel images for use by several photographic libraries.
The School aims to provide training and courses in a whole range of subjects and styles as well basic and advanced courses in understanding your digital camera and Adobe Photoshop techniques.
There is a range of courses and individual sessions from 1 hour individual tuition through to 2/3 days, suitable for all levels of skill and understanding . We aim to bring a refreshing approach to photography with the aim of not only improving your skill level but ensuring you enjoy photography as much as we do.
The basic requirements are that you have a camera of your own (be it point and shoot compact or complex Digital SLR) and a desire to improve your ability to capture images, be it on film or in digital format.
Based on the outskirts of the lovely Cotswold Town of Cirencester, there are ample opportunities to take advantage of this wonderful location.
We are located centrally between Swindon and Cheltenham close to both M4 and M5 motorways. There is plenty of choice of accommodation if required.
On each course you will be taken through every aspect of the subject to ensure you leave enabled to use your own skills in a more creative and adventurous way.
For those who want, you will be encouraged to progress to qualifications available through a number of photographic societies and organisations.
Whether you want to learn how your digital camera works, and discover what the various settings and controls mean or move on to taking stunning landscapes there will be course for you.
